The society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc. (SGNA), in collaboration with the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM), now offers IAHCSMM-approved points to meet your recertification needs. Technicians and Associates interested in obtaining recertification pits or studying for the Sterile Processing Certification exam are encouraged to complete one or more of the modules below.
Associates Program
The SGNA Associates Program was developed to help you gain core knowledge related to anatomy and physiology, equipment, reprocessing/infection control and safety.
Modules in this program contain slides, diagrams and supporting documents to help provide instruction for the individual completing the module. Each module has a post-test that needs to be completed for the participant to receive their certificate. Certificates are available immediately for download once the invididual has passed the module with a score of 80% or higher.
You will need to print and make a copy of this certificate to provide to IAHCSMM. Don’t forget to keep a copy for your records. SGNA does not need a copy of your certificate.
IAHCSMM-approved modules:
Module 1: Anatomy & Physiology: 1.0 points
Module 2: Equipment: .75 points
Module 3: .Reprocessing/Infection Control: .75 points
Module 4: Safety: 1.0 points
Module Package: Includes all four of the above modules: 3.5 points
Price for non-SGNA members:
$30.00 per module/$80.00 package of 4 modules
Advanced Associates Program
The purpose of the Advanced Associates Program is to provide you with a knowledge set that challenges your critical thinking skills, focuses on team communication and fosters an interactive educational learning environment with the rest of your colleagues.
Modules in this program contain slides, diagrams and supporting documents that include case studies to address the critical thinking component and self-study component with skills validation. Each module has a post-test that needs to be completed for the participant to receive their certificate. Certificates are available immediately for download once the individual has passed the module with a score of 80% or higher.
You will need to print and make a copy of this certificate to provide to IAHCSMM. Don’t forget to keep a copy for your records. SGNA does not need a copy of your certificate.

Module 2: Equipment: 1.5 points
Module 3: .Emergency Preparedness: 1.5 points
Module Package: Includes all three of the above modules: 4.5 points
